After graduating with a B.F.A. from the Maine College of Art in 1991, I have amassed over 25 years of experience in the conceptualization, direction, management and production of print communications, corporate identity, branding, architectural visioning, environmental graphic design, social media, video and web design projects. Prior to starting my own studio in 2005, I spent a combined 15 years as an Art Director and Creative Director for Communication Arts, LRK Architects, and the Sterling-Rice Group. I've been a guest lecturer for the American Institute of Graphic Artists (AIGA). My work is published in the Logo Lounge Master Library Series, as well as other design publications, and I have created (and sold) over 100 corporate brand identities. My favorite project included a presentation to Willie Nelson on his bus "The Honeysuckle Rose."
As the late design icon Paul Rand told my graphic design professor while studying at Yale, “design is not a profession, it’s a curse... it’s not a job, it’s a way of life.” After 25 years in the business, I still find that statement to be absolutely true, on a daily basis. I’m cursed. But, I believe that you will benefit greatly from an infusion of my unique perspective.
I pride myself on my ability to delve into the DNA of any assignment, understanding the opportunities before me, and delivering a visually pleasing, efficient, and highly functional solution on time and within budget. I love my work, I value my working relationships, and I always attempt to set the standard for others to aspire to, while having fun along the way!
I often collaborate with a "Co-Op" of specialists to deliver the best results within a given discipline. Our multi-disciplinary team of design ninjas consistently blurs the line between architecture, graphic design, branding and digital media. There is a special beauty in that orchestration of elements to create real and memorable places, products and brands that resonate with both heart and mind.
I am committed to being streamlined, agile, and forward-thinking. I'm not corporate, and I'm not bound by any set formula. My goal is to find and define the big idea, the story, the compelling reason to connect, interact, purchase, or “be.”
